Record third doses in GB, over 2 million last week

Over two million people in the UK received their third dose of the covid-19 vaccine in the past week alone, a record figure according to local health authorities. The Guardian reports it. In particular, NHS England, the public health service for England, announces that 2.1 million third doses of the vaccine were administered between 6 and 12 November, compared to 1.7 million the previous week. In total, over 10 million people have received the so-called ‘booster’ dose of serum in England to date.

While the fourth wave of the pandemic continues to hit Europe, and especially the Eastern countries, in Austria the announced squeeze against no vax will start tomorrow. Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg announced this, speaking of “a serious situation” and a “shameful” level of immunizations in the country. “We have to increase the vaccination rate. It is shamefully low”: “We do not take this step lightly but unfortunately it is necessary”. About 65% of the population is fully vaccinated against Covid, reports the Guardian, according to which it is one of the lowest rates in Western Europe.

In Slovenia the percentage of positivity in the anticovid tests remains very high, which in the last 24 hours was 44.2%. As reported by the regional media, the incidence on 100,000 inhabitants in the two weeks also remains at alarming levels, with the latest figure at 2,003. Since yesterday there have been 2,365 new infections. There are currently 42,240 active cases, while the pressure on the hospital system is growing, and in particular on intensive care.
