Two Ukrainian citizens were injured in a traffic accident with a Flixbus bus in Germany, which occurred near Leipzig on the morning of March 27. Four people died in the accident and about three dozen were injured.

According to German media reports, the driver of the vehicle was placed under investigation. Information about the injured Ukrainian women was confirmed to European Pravda by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is known that the double-decker bus was traveling along the A9 highway from Berlin to Zurich. At about 09:45 on Wednesday, between the Wiedemar and Schkeuditzer Kreuz intersection near Leipzig, a vehicle left the road for unknown reasons. He drove almost 100 meters through the grass and overturned between bushes and trees.

There were 54 passengers in the Flixbus cabin. Four people were killed, another 29 were injured, including six in serious condition. The 62-year-old Czech citizen who was driving was taken under investigation.


The bus company claims that the driver involved in the accident respected the bus driving and rest times. He had been driving for just over an hour and a half since leaving Berlin at 08:00.

“Our views are with all those affected by this accident and with their families,” a company representative said in response to a request from German publications.

A police spokesman stressed that most likely no other vehicle was involved in the accident, but its causes are still unknown. An important route between the cities was closed in both directions for several hours, and emergency aid stations were deployed at the scene of the accident.

Morgenpost reported on March 29 that police had identified three of the four dead in the case of the fatal Flixbus accident on the A9 highway. In particular, the tragedy claimed the lives of a 47-year-old Polish woman, a 20-year-old Indonesian woman living in Berlin, and a 19-year-old resident of Bavaria.

The Ukrainian embassy in Berlin reported that one injured Ukrainian woman was hospitalized immediately after the accident.

“As of now, both Ukrainian citizens are already at their place of residence,” the Foreign Ministry added.

At the same time, German law enforcement officers are establishing the identity of another woman who died in an accident. Therefore, the Ukrainian embassy keeps the matter under special control.

As OBOZ.UA reported, on January 31, a Ukrainian bus with 50 passengers was involved in an accident in Poland. The accident occurred on the A4 highway near Perevorsk: a vehicle crashed into a truck, no one was injured as a result of the incident.
