The International Court of Justice ordered Israel to end the famine in Gaza

The International Court of Justice unanimously ordered Israel to take all necessary and effective measures to ensure the supply of basic food products to the Palestinian population of the enclave and stop the spread of famine in the Gaza Strip. The court’s decision followed the adoption of a South African resolution at the UN accusing Israel of genocide. It was South Africa that called on the International Court of Justice to take appropriate measures against Israel.

Judges said people in the enclave face deteriorating conditions. “Palestinians in Gaza are no longer in danger of famine—famine has arrived,” the judges said in their ruling.

Reuters quoted Hamas spokesman Basem Naim as saying the decision did not meet the hopes of the Palestinians. “We welcome any new demands to end the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, especially in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. But we were hoping that the court would order a ceasefire. That would be the absolute solution to all the suffering that our people in Gaza are experiencing,” he said. He.

Demanding an immediate ceasefire and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages in the latest UN Security Council resolution (the United States, which abstained from voting, did not veto it).

Israel’s Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on the UN court’s decision. However, Israel said it was making efforts to expand humanitarian access into Gaza by land, airdrops and ships.

As OBOZ.UA reported, The Israel Defense Forces launched an operation around Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip. The area around the hospital complex was cordoned off by IDF tanks.
