(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, DEC 04 – CNN fired its star anchor Chris Cuomo with immediate effect after hiring an outside law firm to examine his role in defending his brother Andrew from allegations of molesting when he was governor of New York, a dozen employees. In recent days, the broadcaster had suspended him after the dissemination of new trial papers in the investigation concerning his brother, from which an active role of the conductor in managing the communication strategy had emerged.
“This is not how I wanted my time at CNN to end, but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother”: said anchor Chris Cuomo in a note after his dismissal from CNN. The journalist said he was “disappointed” by what happened but also “proud” of the team of his program, one of the broadcaster’s most followed. (HANDLE).
