Iran and the United States agreed with the principles and goals of a potential nuclear agreement. Negotiations took place in Rome, and at the next stage – technical consultations will take place on April 26 in Oman.
It is reported by Reuters. In particular, on Saturday, the parties agreed to transfer the work of experts who should develop the basis of a future agreement.
Negotiations were in an indirect dialogue format: Foreign Minister Iran Abbas Arakchi talked with the special representative of US President Steve Vitkov through an intermediary from Oman.
This is the second round of contacts per week, and it took place amid the threats of Donald Trump about possible military operations against Iran in the absence of a new agreement. The US President requires a clear guarantee that Tehran will not be able to create nuclear weapons.
Iran insists that his nuclear program is only peaceful. Tehran declares readiness for certain restrictions, but only in exchange for the removal of sanctions.
Arakchi called negotiations “useful and constructive.” According to him, the parties achieved progress in principal positions, and also agreed to continue the dialogue in the technical format. On Wednesday, experts will gather in Oman to begin the development of a future agreement.
The next collection of basic negotiations is scheduled for the next Saturday in Oman.
“We cannot say with confidence that we are optimistic. We act very carefully. There is no reason to be too pessimistic, ”Arakchi said.
The United States officially did not comment on negotiations. On Friday, Donald Trump just said to reporters: “I was simply not allowed to have nuclear weapons. They cannot be nuclear weapons. I want Iran to be great, prosperous and amazing. ”
Earlier, Iran told the United States about his readiness to accept some restrictions on the enrichment of uranium, designed to complicate the development of the atomic bomb. At the same time, Tehran wants a guarantee that President Donald Trump will no longer leave a nuclear deal.
According to OBOZ.UA, according to the New York Times, Israel planned an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities through the United States. Nevertheless, the publication writes that Trump did not support the proposals and relied on diplomatic negotiations on the reduction of Tehran’s nuclear program.
