Balance of Trump’s 100 days: ‘It’s the economy, stupid’

In 100 days of government, Trump It has an approval rate of 42%, according to the NPR/PBS/Marist research aggregator. Although the index is low, the percentage represents a very polarized society: 86% of Republicans approve of their government, while 89% disapprove.

The high polarization is a reflection of measures that please much more conservative to liberals (left in the US). To the right, Trump has fulfilled his campaign promises.

In the immigration area, Trump gets it right by closing the siege against people who enter illegally in the US. According to US Custom and Border, in March 7,180 cases of people trying to illegally cross the border (historical minimum), against 155,000, monthly average of the last four years.

In foreign policy, Trump also hits when seeking the end of the war between Russia and Ukraine. Extending this war means killing more Ukrainians and further destroying the country. It is not about cheering for Russia, but being pragmatic and understanding that the end of the conflict is to avoid greater evil for Ukraine.

Another positive point of the Trump administration is the emptying of US Deep State Agency resources (USAID, for example) that use financial resources to promote left -wing ideological agendas around the world or sponsor geopolitical narratives against US opponents (color revolution). A true waste of public money.

If Trump had several hits, on the other hand, comment on a mistake that can cost all its popularity: the tariff war with the whole world. Raising import taxes will not necessarily bring back industries to the US, but it will certainly generate inflation.
In the event of this, there is no party or ideology that can resist high prices in retail. Or as a Bill Clinton campaign strategist already said: “It’s the economy, stupid.”
