19 months after the start of the war in Gaza, the Israeli premier included the end of the fighting among the topics under discussion in Doha in what seems one of the most dramatic days after 7 October.
Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu announced this evening the resumption of humanitarian aid in Gaza with immediate effect, in the context of the strong pressure from the USA.
“The negotiating team is working on any possibility for an agreement, both according to the Witkoff scheme, and in the context of the conclusion of the war, which would include the release of all the hostages, the exile of the terrorists of Hamas and the disarmament of the strip”, said Benyamin Netanyahu through his office. A few hours later, on the climate of cautious optimism recorded in the Arab countries as in Israel, the advertisement of the army ran down: the earth troops kicked off the offensive ‘Gadeone’s tanks’ in different areas of Gaza with five divisions in action. A move that only apparently seem in contrast with the word ‘peace’, but which is actually used as a maximum form of pressure to convince Hamas leaders who came the time ‘to get off the tree’, as the Israeli say. The escalation officially started after days of intense air attacks, and dozens of victims, to open the way for military vehicles. Bombings that seem to have hit the goal of eliminating Muhammed Sinwar, the youngest brother of the former head of Hamas Yahya, killed in October, and from which he inherited the leadership in Gaza. The official confirmation that has died is making up for both Hamas and Tsahal. But on Sunday morning the Saudi broadcaster Al-Hadath quoting his sources, reported that “Muhammad Sinwar’s body, Hamas’ de facto leader, was found in a tunnel in Khan Youunis”. Referring to the bunker under the European hospital hit last Tuesday by nine penetrating bombs and bombed for hours even in the following days to prevent rescue or that the corpses were recovered.
An imposing attack of the hunting of IF taken 20 minutes after a ‘precious report’ by the land indicating Sinwar ‘The young man’ in a meeting with at least ten other garments of the organization, including the commander of the brigade Rafah Muhammad Shabana. He too is given for dead by Al-Hadath. Defense Minister Israel Katz commented that “there is still no official verification, but according to all the Muhammad Sinwar indications has been eliminated”. Meanwhile, the advance of tanks north of Khan Youunis, in the South, accompanied by heavy artillery and air attacks, and in the eastern part of Jabaliya, in the north, is reported from the strip. While in the south of Israel in the late afternoon of Sunday the alarms for two rockets launched by the Enclave took off. Quds, affiliated to Hamas, has published movies of Palestinian families who leave the fields of Jabaliya, Beit Laia and Tal A-Za’Tar for the intensification of the raids. After the rockets, the army spokesman ordered evacuation from the eastern area of Deir Al-Balah. In the evening the political and security cabinet will meet for a discussion that is particularly tense, and will focus on the introduction of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip and on the kidnapped.
While from the USA, in an interview with the ABC, the special correspondent for Trump Steve Witkoff said that Israel has “indicated” that he will begin to allow the entry of food into the enclave after having closed the passes for two and a half months. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, established in close coordination with Jerusalem to manage the distribution should begin to operate in Gaza by the end of the month. “Mobile kitchens will be sent. We have trucks loaded with flour that await us on the border. We do not want to attend a humanitarian crisis and we will not allow it to occur under the control of President Trump,” said Witkoff. Meanwhile, it has been learned that the US correspondent for the hostages Adam Boehler, who remained in Doha for the negotiations, explained to Fox News Sunday that the negotiations are very ‘fluid’, denying the items that they would not be going well: “The release of the host Idan Alexander is a signal that Hamas understands that he has to free the kidnapped if he wants the attacks.”
