Communist Jeannette Jara, former Minister of Labor of the Government of Gabriel Boricthis Sunday won the previews of the Chilean government coalition, becoming a candidate for this sector for the November general elections. With 93% of the votes accounted for, Jara reached 60% of preferences, according to official electoral service data (Servel). In second place was former Minister Carolina Tohá, from Center left, with 27%. Then are Gonzalo Winter (9%), from the Broad Front, Boric’s party, and Jaime Mulet (2.7%), from the Minority Party Regionalist Federation Verde Social. The Chilean law prohibits the 39 -year -old leftist Gabriel Boric to run for a second consecutive term.
The electoral journey, marked by the cold winter in much of the country, outline with a low participation. Jara, a 51 -year -old advocate and communist party militant, emerged as a presidential option after her management as a ministry of labor was able to reduce the weekly workload from 45 to 40 hours.
