Safari guides that were with the group fired shots at the animal to try to prevent her from attacking
Two tourists were killed by an elephant on Thursday (3), while making a safari on foot in a Zambia National Park, according to local police. East Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba said the victims – Easton Janet Taylor, 68, United Kingdomand Alison Jean Taylor, 67, from New Zealand – They were attacked by an elephant who was with a puppy.
The safari guides that were with the group fired shots at the animal to try to prevent her from attacking the women, police said. The elephant was hit and wounded by the shots. But still, the guides could not prevent the attack and the two women died at the scene. The case happened at South Luangwa National Park in eastern Zambia, about 600 kilometers from the capital, Lusaka. The female elephants are very protective of their puppies and can react aggressively to what they consider threats.

Last year, two American tourists were killed in separated meetings with elephants in different parts of Zambia in both cases, tourists were also elderly women and were in a safari vehicle when they were attacked.
