Latvia will transfer to Ukraine a batch of modern Patria 6×6 armored workers in a new military assistance package. This was reported after an official visit for the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Valera, Cherkin.
Such information was published by IUu. During negotiations with the Minister of Defense of Latvia Andris, the parties discussed the strengthening of the protective capabilities of the Ukrainian army. Valery Cherkin thanked the Latvian government and people.
“I thank the people and government of Latvia for comprehensive and persistent support, a new military aid bag. The consistent and clear position of Latvia in the support of our struggle is very valuable and important for Ukraine, ”he said.
Patria 6×6 is a new generation armored vehicle, developed as part of the joint initiative of Finland, Estonia and Latvia. Serial production began in 2021. Cars are designed to transport staff, weapons and maneuverability on various types of terrain.
Although the details of the package are not disclosed, Churkin confirmed that in addition to armored vehicles, he includes other types of weapons and technical means that will strengthen the capabilities of the armed forces.
As part of the visit, the Ukrainian delegation also held a number of meetings with representatives of the government structures of Latvian and leading weapons. The problems of further military technological cooperation, the exchange of technology and joint strengthening of defense interaction were discussed.
According to OBOZ.UA, in May Latvia handed over to Ukraine a new party of military assistance to combat Russian invasion. Kyiv received 1,500 drone drones as part of the International Initiative “Coalition of Disruptions”.
