Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that there is no record of victims in Brazil so far
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) issued a note to the press on Saturday (5), which expresses condolences to the people and the US government (US) for the 32 confirmed deaths, dozens of missing persons and the hundreds of homeless due to heavy rains and floods that hit the central region of the state Texasthis Friday (4).
In the text in which it expresses solidarity, the Brazilian government points to causes of extreme climate events. “The Government of Brazil reaffirms that climate change intensifies extreme events and increases the frequency of similar disasters, which makes the need for joint measures by the international community even more urgent,” says Itamaraty note.

MRE confirms that, so far, there is no record of Brazilian victims. In case of emergency, the Brazilian community residing in Texas may contact the Consulate General’s duty in Houston, Texas City at +1 (281) 384-4966.
