US Secretary of State Marco Rubio negotiated with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). The parties discussed a peace agreement with Ukraine, as well as the situation in Iran and Syria.
The Kremlin has already stated that Rubio and Lavrov have held a “significant and open exchange of thoughts.” It is reported by Reuters.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that between Rubio and Lavrov there is a significant and frank exchange of views on resolving the situation around Ukraine, the situation around Iran and Syria, as well as a number of other international issues.
According to the results of the negotiations, Lavrov and Rubio confirmed the mutual desire to search for peaceful solutions about conflicts, the restoration of Russian-American economic and humanitarian cooperation, as well as promoting unhindered contacts between the societies of the two countries. The Russian Federation also stated that the dialogue between Moscow and Washington will continue.
Commenting on a meeting with Lavrov, Rubio said that they have a frank and important conversation about the war in Ukraine. At the same time, the Secretary of State admitted that Donald Trump was disappointed with the fact that in Ukraine there was no greater flexibility on the Russian side.
Rubio noted that the United States should see how the roadmap is moving on how the Russian-Karanskaya War can end.
