The vice president and minister of development, industry, commerce and services, Geraldo Alckminblamed former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for the 50% rate on Brazilian products announced by the president of the United States, Donald Trump. In a press conference with journalists on Thursday (10), Alckmin again said that Brazil is not a problem for Americans, as it has commercial surplus in goods and services.

“The Bolsonaro clan has worked against the interest of the country and the Brazilian people. Now we see that this clan, even out of government, continues to work against Brazilian interest. Before, it was an attack on democracy, but is now an attack on the economy,” said Alckmin, who still accused Bolsonaro of negationism during the COVID-19 pandemic and accumulating primary deficits.
According to Alckmin, Trump’s attitude was a “misconception” and should be “corrected” and the American tariff impairs job creation. The vice president stated that Lula is creating an emergency working group to take care of Trump’s reactions against the fare.
