The president of the United States, Donald Trumpannounced on Tuesday (15) agreements for the development of infrastructure and energy production in the amount of US $ 92 billion (about R $ 511 billion), aiming to meet the growing demand for artificial intelligence. Trump participated in the inauguration of Pennsylvania’s energy and innovation summit at Carnegie Mellon University, and much of his message was focused on beating China in the Global Race by AI.

“The commitments [acordos] today guarantee that the future will be created […] Right here at Pennsylvania and right here in Pittsburgh, and I have to say, right here in the United States, ”Trump said at the event. The technological world fully adopted the general AI as a revolution, but fears grow that its huge electricity needs cannot be met by the current infrastructure, particularly in the United States.

The Generative AI requires enormous computing capacity, especially for Nvidia processors, hungry for energy. The Californian company has become the most valuable in the world in terms of market capitalization. Official estimates indicate that by 2028 technology companies will need up to 5 Gigawatts of power to boost AI, enough to supply approximately five million homes. High executives at PALANTIR, Anthropic, Exxon and Chevron attended the event. Financing will cover new data centers, power generation, power grid infrastructure, AI training and learning programs.
