Covid: Australia recalls positive nurses

(ANSA) – ROME, JANUARY 04 – Several Covid-19 positive nurses have been recalled to service, in violation of the provisions of the health protocols, at hospitals in New South Wales, Australia, following the organizational emergency linked to the staff shortage due to the massive spread of the Omicron variant, which has forced about 2,500 health workers into solitary confinement in the State of Sydney. This was stated by the Guardian, which reports having received complaints from nurses alarmed for having found themselves in contact with infected colleagues.

The recall to the ward would have been issued through informal and verbal communications, with the condition that positive operators are asymptomatic and use personal protection tools. According to various testimonies also cited by the Guardian, in some cases the nurses however appeared evidently symptomatic, with coughs and colds, and would also have served in non-Covid wards.
