The ex-Minister of Culture of Belarus Pavel Latushko spoke about this on the air of the program “Today is a day off” on the TV channel “Ukraine 24”.

“Belarus is not a participant and has not signed the documents of the international criminal court. Lukashenka foresaw such a story and understood what he could face if proceedings were started against him,” he said.

What’s in the lawsuit

Pavel Latushko noted that the appeal was signed by a number of citizens of Belarus, incl. foreign.

“The regime’s crimes committed from 2002 to the present are considered there. This is exactly the period that the international criminal court in The Hague can consider,” he said.

Also, according to him, there are documents of crimes since 1995. We are talking about genocide, as well as crimes against humanity.

“Here, not only the Belarusian people were subjected to genocide, but also representatives of the Polish national minority, other peoples. There are also accusations related to the hijacking of an aircraft, air piracy. Here, crimes committed not only on the territory of Belarus, but also in other states, including . and Ukraine,” Latushko said.

In addition, he noted that the lawsuit contains 40,000 pages of photo and video documents, 1,500 pages of testimonies:

“That is, this is a huge array of evidence that can be used as the basis for the decision of the prosecutor in The Hague. Now we are waiting for his decision. It will not be quick, but it is the prosecutor who has the right to start proceedings in this criminal case.”

US sanctions

The United States imposed visa restrictions against representatives of the authorities of the regime of the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

At the same time, the United States called on the Belarusian authorities to fulfill their obligations in the field of human rights, to immediately release all political prisoners, and to hold free and fair elections under international supervision.

Recall, adviser to the leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya Franak Vyachorka said that 75 members of the European Parliament published an open letter in defense of the independence of Belarus. The letter states that if “Russian troops remain in Belarus, then this should be considered as an occupation of Belarus.”
