The fourth ecological Sunday is scheduled for February 26 in Rome, the penultimate of the five established by the Capitoline Council for this winter. In particular, there will be a total block on circulation for all internal combustion engine vehicles in the new ZTL, the so-called “Green Band”, starting from 7.30 to 12.30 and from 16.30 to 20.30.
The provision will also affect vehicles provided with access and circulation permits in the Limited Traffic Zones. At the same time, checks will be intensified to ascertain compliance with the rules relating to the prohibition of burning in the open.
Methane, LPG, hybrid and electric traction vehicles will be able to circulate freely; spark ignition vehicles equipped with a dual “BI-FUEL” fuel system (petrol-LPG or petrol-methane) also converted, running on LPG or methane and belonging to the “EURO 3” homologation class and later; vehicles with positive ignition (petrol fueled) “EURO 6”; 2-wheeled mopeds with 4-stroke “EURO 2” and later engines; 4-stroke motorcycles “EURO 3” and later.
For a complete list of exemptions/derogations from the driving ban, consult the complete text of the ordinance visible on the website of the Municipality of Rome.
Initially, “ecological Sunday” was scheduled for February 5 but was then postponed to February 26 to ensure a smooth running of the electoral campaign for the regional elections of February 12 and 13. The fifth and last ecological Sunday of this season is scheduled for March 26, 2023.
