The acronym GTI, combined with the Volkswagen brand has always been synonymous with sportiness, emotion and dynamism. As is known, since 1982, the largest gathering dedicated to German sports has been held on Lake Wörthersee, in Austria, but it has recently been decided that the location will no longer be available in the future. So, starting next year, Volkswagen will move the venue of the meeting to Wolfsburg, a coming home that underlines the importance of the event for the brand, during which new models are presented and a large number of enthusiasts gather. In this way, the brand headquarters in Wolfsburg will become the new “home” of the GTI fan community.
“Our GTI fans are of great importance to Volkswagen – said Imelda Labbé, board member for sales, marketing and after-sales service at Volkswagen passenger cars – for this reason, after the GTI rally on the lake Wörthersee was cancelled, we decided quite quickly to offer the GTI fan community a new location in Wolfsburg.”
