For driving while intoxicated, Ukrainian legislation provides for liability. Drivers who get behind the wheel after drinking alcohol endanger not only themselves, but also other road users.
The dose of alcohol in the blood should be no more than 0.2 ppm. How much alcohol can a driver drink in order not to exceed the norm, GLOBAL HAPPENINGS figured out.
First of all, it is worth noting that converting 0.2 ppm into actual volumes of popular drinks is quite difficult. It is a well-known fact that different people’s perception of alcohol can be individual – it depends on the characteristics of the body, the presence of chronic diseases, etc. Therefore, before the trip, and preferably the day before it, you should not drink alcoholic beverages at all.
Often, on the morning after a loud party, drivers, without feeling the symptoms of a hangover, delight themselves with the thought that the alcohol has already disappeared and you can go to work by car. However, even with a satisfactory state of health in the body, there is still a high rate of alcohol. Several factors need to be taken into account:
- the amount drunk;
- how much time has passed since the moment of use;
- individual characteristics (reaction of the body to alcohol): weight of the driver, liver condition, metabolic rate, how much food was consumed, etc.
In general, the allowed 0.2 ppm in relation to popular spirits would be as follows:
Dry red wine
- men – 200 g
- women – 100 g
A sparkling wine
- men – 200 g
- women – 100 g
Beer
- men – 500 g
- women – 330 g
brandy, whiskey
- men – 50 g
- women – 30 g
Vodka
- men – 50 g
- women – 30 g
By the way, there is a popular myth that supposedly a dream, a contrast shower or strong coffee will help you sober up faster. In fact, these methods can only cheer up, but do not affect the level of alcohol in the blood. About how long it takes to completely eliminate beer, wine and vodka from the body – read the material.
Earlier, GLOBAL HAPPENINGS said that in the Kyiv region from January to May 2023, fines for drunk driving were issued for more than 15 million hryvnias.
