Volkswagen Tiguan 1.5 TSI Ehybrid R-Line, the hybrid that convinces

The Volkswagen Tiguan totally changes with the third generation, which also includes the hybrid version plug-in 1.5 TSI Ehybrid R-Line DSG of our test, capable of combining efficiency, performance and advanced technology. The look is made sporty by the details of the R-Line version, such as the large lower front mouth in glossy black and the black rims. However, the lines are decidedly softer than those of the previous model, and favor aerodynamics, as evidenced by the CX of 0.28. As for the bright signatures, these have a solution of continuity that underlines the width of both the front and the rear view. The length of 4.54 meters returns Tiguan in the hard and crowded segment of the C-SUVs, where he wants to continue to be the protagonist, as evidenced by the care of the interiors and the technology hidden under the skin.

Spacious both in front and behind, with 5 places that really usable, the new Tiguan also offers the display for the air conditioner, the dedicated vents and two USB-C sockets for passengers of the second row, a load compartment expanded to 652 liters, which on the proven variant is reduced to 490 liters, and a front area of the particularly technological passenger compartment.
In fact, the two 10.25 -inch screens for digital instrumentation stand out and, up to 15 inches for the infotainment, with the latter which also incorporates the controls for the air conditioner. The multimedia system also with over the air updates, also uses voice commands, navigation with points of interest, and integration with chatgpt. Reduced to the small number of three, the physical keys, with the rotor that allows you to manage different functions, including the driving modes, while the induction plates for charging the smartphone, which connects wirelessly via Apple Carplay or Android Auto, are two. At the wheel stands the brilliance of the plug-in hybrid power unit consisting of the 150 HP 1.5 turbo petrol engine, combined with an 115 HP electrical engine, for a total power of 204 HP and a maximum combined torque of 350 Nm.

The 6 -speed double clutch DSG transmission ensures fluid and reactive changes, while the 19.7 kWh battery, when it is charged, allows you to drive in electrical mode for over 100 km and, in hybrid mode, ensures travel above 30 km/l, which are reduced to about 18 km/l with the drainage power supply. The battery pack also accepts the recharging from the continuous current columns, to a power of 40 kW, while from alternating current stations it recovers energy to a power of 11 kW. Travel a lot of road with fuel, or using exclusively the electric sector, does not exclude the possibility of taking advantage of sporting performance, such as the shot from 0 to 100 km/h which takes place in 8.2 seconds, and a maximum speed of 210 km/h, to be experienced only where allowed. At constant speed, however, the comfort stands out, both as regards isolation from external noise, and for the ability to absorb roughness.

With all aid systems at the top of the latest generation, it offers greater safety in daily paths and travel. Among these stands out the adaptive cruise control, which adapts the speed to the limits in force on the route. In addition, thanks to a shortcut on the big central screen menu, it is possible to customize the various items, excluding the most insistent ones, such as the acoustic signal of the exceeding of the speed limits, which in urban contexts can be rather persistent. With the R-Line layout, such as that prerogative of the car on test, the Tiguan TSI Ehybrid has a price of 58,100 euros, a figure commensurate with the technological content of the car.
