Furniture: Mediobanca, 8.5% sales increase in 2022

(ANSA) – MILAN, 10 JUN – In 2022, medium-sized companies operating in the Italian furniture system estimate a growth in sales of 8.5% nominal and exports up by 8.1% nominal. This was stated in an in-depth analysis by the Mediobanca Research Area, which specifies how companies are “strong also in the fact that about 65% expect a direct or indirect benefit from the PNRR-National Recovery and Resilience Plan”.

On some sectors, the unknowns weigh more: in fact, “the prospects for woodworking players are less dynamic as they are more subject to energy price increases and a shortage of raw materials. The expected nominal increase in sales is equal to +6.7 % (+ 4.2% across the border) “, explains the Mediobanca Research Area, which distributed the report in conjunction with the Milan Design Week, according to which” coatings producers expect sales to increase by 11.7%. nominal (export + 11.1%), while the furniture and lighting sector expects a nominal increase of 8.3% both in Italy and abroad.

For last year, the sector estimates an increase in aggregate turnover of 25% (+ 22% exports). In particular, the woodworking sector grew by 37% (exports + 21%), coatings by 25% (+ 21% abroad) and furniture and lighting manufacturers closed 2021 with growth in sales of 23%, both nationally and across borders.
