(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 19 – From organic products to toys passing through cosmetics: there seems to be no product sector immune from counterfeiting. A phenomenon that also involved fake anti Covid drugs.
The Carabinieri Command for Agri-food Protection, in the last two years, for example, has carried out 3 thousand checks along the supply chain, with the seizure of 10 thousand tons of products.
Speculations mainly concern the marketing of products placed on the market with counterfeit quality marks: Protected Designation of Origin, Protected Geographical Indication and Guaranteed Traditional Specialty.
The data emerge from the hearing of the Brigadier General of the Carabinieri, Giuseppe De Riggi, at the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on the protection of consumers and users chaired by Simone Baldelli, during which the activity carried out by the Arma was illustrated in the fields of competence of the Commission.
