Borsa: Milan runs with the accounts, Europe waits for Ny slack

(ANSA) – MILAN, JUL 28 – Piazza Affari gets into fourth place supported by the rain of quarterly reports that are pouring into the Milanese list in what is the most dense day of accounts in Europe and the United States this season. The Ftse Mib rose by 1.2%, detaching all the other exchanges, in retreat after a more tonic start to the session, fueled by the hope of witnessing a slowdown in the Fed’s monetary tightening.

Frankfurt and Paris are up by 0.1%, London is down by 0.1% and Madrid by 0.8%, with fears of recession and the energy crisis returning to be felt.

Oil rises (+ 2.1% to 99.33 dollars the WTI), after the decline in US inventories, while the Gazprom squeeze on gas flows keeps the price of methane futures on the Amsterdam stock market skyrocketing (+0 , 4% to 206 euros per megawatt hour). The BTP-Bund spread is barely moved at 236 points, with the yield on our government bonds stable at 3.31%, while the euro flattens towards parity with the dollar (-0.67% at 1.013) on the day in which Eurozone economic confidence fell to its lowest since February 2021.

On the Milanese list, Iveco (+ 4.2%), Moncler (+ 3.6%), Stellantis (+ 3.5%) and Stm (+ 2.2%) all come back from higher than expected quarterly returns. Pirelli (+ 3%), Unipol (+ 2.7%) and Cnh (+ 2.7%) also did well, while the accounts of Recordati (-2.1%), Poste (-0.9%) did not surprise the market ) and Terna (-0.3%). Among the banks, good Intesa (+ 1.9%) and Mediobanca (+ 1.1%) on the eve of the accounts while Unicredit is taking breath away (-0.9%) after yesterday’s rally. Sales also on Saipem (-2.4%), Inwit (-1.6%) and Leonardo (-1.1%. (ANSA).
