“It will be important to take measures on the numbers that are emerging for the end of September, when it will be necessary to update the electricity tariffs, very influenced by the trend in the price of gas, to understand if the resources made available by the Aid Decree bis are sufficient”. This is what the president of the Arera, Stefano Besseghini, explains to ANSA. “It will be necessary to verify, for tariff changes, if the numbers evaluated well in advance in mid-June need some further intervention, which will have to take into account the available resources”, he emphasizes.
Besseghini also answers a question on the extreme hypothesis of a total blockade of Russian gas. “If Russia were to completely block the flow of gas – he says – there will naturally be emergency interventions on the decrease in demand. These will first pass from the industrial sectors that can modulate their gas demand and will only ultimately affect the domestic consumer, but never critical consumptions such as hospitals or other essential services “.
“These summer fluctuations in the cost of gas – he adds – are part of Russia’s clear enough strategy to keep the price very tight”.
