Refuse to accept back: the client of PrivatBank received insolvent dollars at the cash desk

The client of PrivatBank told how he was given illiquid currency at the cash desk of the branch and refused to accept it back.

The man wrote a review about this on the website of the Ministry of Finance.

According to the Ukrainian, he had a dollar deposit in this bank, which had expired. Then the client decided to withdraw money, some of which to take away, and some of which to re-invest. Without spending the currency, the man decided to put the rest of the money on the deposit.

“But they didn’t take them from me at the cash desk, because they glow in ultraviolet light. How interesting, this is the same money that was given to me at the cash desk of the same bank. I go to the branch where they gave me them, they say,“ call to the hotline and make a request to view CCTV cameras, “the review says.

Calling the hotline, the man found out that it was impossible to see the banknote numbers on cameras. The only possible way out is to give the bills for examination, which lasts a whole month.

Upon its completion, experts will make a decision on the solvency of these dollars. If the bills are recognized as not entirely solvent, then they will be accepted at a reduced rate, and if it is established that the dollars are not at all solvent, they will not be accepted at all.

The man was advised next time to ask the cashier to enlighten the money in front of him, and the client himself said that failed to return 300 dollars.

“Bottom line: I tried to buy foreign currency in bank branches, I thought that everything would be ok there, but how to find yourself even in the” great “Privat you can get a pig in a poke at the cashier’s office,” wrote the upset client.

What did PrivatBank answer?

PrivatBank employees responded to the review and noted that when making cash transactions in bank branches, the client must transfer cash without leaving the cash register, and check the details on the spot.

“All bills are checked. If you are not satisfied with the state of the bill, you can refuse to accept it,” said PrivatBank employees.
