The bioeconomy in Italy is worth 100 billion

(ANSA) – MILAN, 21 JAN – In Italy the added value of the bioeconomy is about 100 billion euros, even if the various regions travel at different speeds. Tuscany, Marche and Friuli Venezia-Giulia are the most organic regions of Italy, followed by Veneto, Umbria and Emilia-Romagna, as stated in a research carried out by SRM, Centro Studi linked to the Intesa Sanpaolo group.

The ranking takes into consideration the importance of completely organic sectors on regional GDP together with that of partially organic sectors, evaluating both the bioeconomic footprint and the level of bioeconomic transition. And with a total added value of about 100 billion, Italy is among the countries in Europe with the highest bioeconomic impact, covering 6.4% in terms of added value and almost 8% for employment, with about 2 millions of employees.

As mentioned, at the top of the ranking are Tuscany, Marche, Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Veneto, Umbria and Emilia-Romagna, characterized by a higher organic footprint and a higher level of bioeconomic transition; the second group includes Abruzzo, Puglia, Basilicata, Trentino Alto-Adige, Molise, Sardinia and Calabria, with a lower level of bioeconomic transition; while in the third and last group there are Campania, Lombardy, Piedmont and Sicily, with Lazio, Liguria and Valle d’Aosta at the bottom, with a low bio-footprint of the economy and with variable levels of technological transition.

On a territorial scale, however, the North East is the first area of ​​the country with 29.6 billion, then the North West with 28.3 billion, the South (24.4 billion) and the Center, with 19.3 billion, follows. while the first area as an occupation is the southern one with about 732 thousand employed, 36.5% of the national figure.

And for the future it is underlined that the PNRR allocates 59.47 billion euros to the ecological transition, with the most significant share reserved for the relaunch for the bioeconomy, to which must be added a further 9.16 billion of the Complementary Plan and 1.31 billion of React EU. To which must also be added the 23.9 billion earmarked for the digitization, innovation and competitiveness of the production system. (HANDLE).
