On the first day of the war in Ukraine, Svetlana Loboda was in touch with her loved ones from 5 in the morning, who at that time were near Kyiv.

More recently, the singer’s family was able to return to Irpen, destroyed by the invaders. Svetlana also flew to Ukraine and came to her hometown for the first time since the beginning of the war. The performer was able to communicate with local residents and find out what kind of help they need to restore destroyed houses, as well as see with your own eyes what the occupiers have done in her homeland.

On the exclusive footage Loboda’s relatives spoke about what they had to endure during this time.

Svetlana remembered how she begged her relatives to leave the city, which was entered by the Russian occupiers.

I tried to persuade my father and relatives for almost a month to leave Irpen. Every day I started with a call to my dad and with persuasion. I was very worried about everyone knew that at some point it might be too late– the performer told the site “Today”.

The decision changed when there was an explosion near Aunt Svetlana’s house, and then another. Then close performers realized the horror of what was happening and began to look for ways to leave. As the singer’s aunt, Lyudmila, recalls, It only took five minutes to pack up and leave.because everything around was on fire.

When the nearby apartments began to burn, it became clear that we were very close to all this. We went to Headquarters to find out how we could leave the city. There was practically no one there, one deputy, he ran out and began to shout: “All civilians in cars!” and everyone began to run, – Lyudmila remembered.

Like all the inhabitants of Irpin, Svetlana’s family left the city through a crossing on the river. Until now, the singer’s aunt recalls how scary it was to walk on an unstable pontoon, and then go upstairs. But, fortunately, the Ukrainian military were nearby, who helped and reassured the population.

Loboda’s relatives managed to get to Kyiv, where she took care of their coordination and helped find a safe place to stay for a while. Relatives of Svetlana could not recover for weeks and for some time they refused to even talk about how it was – they experienced such a strong moral shock when they ran away from their native city. Fortunately, now the whole Loboda family is in complete safety.

Meanwhile, Svetlana is doing everything to help the Ukrainians. Boryspil Mayor Vladimir Borisenko said that the performer transferred 1.5 million hryvnia for the purchase of bulletproof vests and turnstiles for the defense fighters, as well as donated a car to Ukrainian defenders.

And in early June, Loboda recorded a poignant composition in Ukrainian – “Prayer”.
