Batman et Robin : Alicia Silverstone et son “body shaming”

In a video posted on the TikTok app, Alicia Silverstone looked back on a period that was particularly difficult for her both personally and professionally: the release of Batman & Robin and remarks on its weight.

We can allow ourselves to think that George Clooney would have preferred that the media focus more on the nipples of his costume than on the physique of his female partner when the release of Batman & Robin.

For the first time in the cinema, Batman recorded a second assistance in his adventures (three including his butler Alfred) with the arrival of Batgirl, played by Alicia Silverstone. Then 19 years old, the actress had to undergo a number of jeers about her physique.

Batman & Robin: Silverstone had been compared to the Pig Babe

This isn’t the first time Alicia Silverstone has spoken publicly about the teasing she was subjected to before and after the release of Batman & Robin. Last year, she said that although these articles had hurt her, she knew they were wrong.

Here, it is not so much the actress who is put forward, the twitter account @ForeverSymone sharing a TikTok video where Alicia Silverstone lets her interlocutor recall a painful past. In 1996, an Entertainment Weekly article had indeed compared the future incarnation of Batgirl to the pig Babe, and it seemed that the actress was in the process of “Lose weight quickly” to get into her vigilante costume.

Earlier, Alicia Silverstone said that if she was told that being an actress would be “To be called fat”, she would not have had “No interest in being famous or keeping any celebrity”.

This “body shaming” (literally, “bodily shaming”) however had only a limited effect on the young woman of the time, PETA having indeed elected her “sexiest vegetarian woman” in 2004. Three years later, Alicia Silverstone even posed nude for an animal rights association’s paper campaign. Proof that the dogs barked in vain, the actress’s trailer was soon to lead it on much more favorable paths.
