(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 15 – DIEGO COLOMBO, OUR DEAR ANGELS (Scripta Maneant Edizioni, pp168. 19.90 euro) Tenderness and emotion, but also hope, in the belief that nothing can defeat a strong feeling like love : “Our dear angels”, a photographic book by Diego Colombo, published by Scripta Maneant, arrives in the bookstore, which composes a poignant portrait of the elderly inhabitants of an Italian retirement home during the social isolation due to the pandemic.
With the contributions of Luca Baccolini, Giovanna Botteri, Giampaolo Guida, Maria Rita Parsi, Felicita Pistilli, Linda Laura Sabbadini, Laura Villani, the book ideally follows the “path of tenderness” indicated by Pope Francis and tells touching stories of elderly people who, even if lost, in the difficulty of loneliness and illness, and with the aggravating circumstance of the health emergency, they still have a heart capable of loving: despite everything, they are fragile but deeply alive angels, who if they have lost the cognitive memory of life lived the emotional and affective one is still intact, perhaps the most precious.
The proceeds from the sales of the book will support the United Nations Children’s Fund – Unicef Italy, to unite those who look out onto the world and those who are taking leave of it in an embrace. (HANDLE).
