Whether US President Donald Trump heard the words that Bruce Springsteen spoke on Wednesday evening in the Berlin Olympic Stadium about him and his “corrupt, incompetent and treacherous government”?
Just like a few weeks ago at the beginning of Springste’s European tour in Manchester, when Trump immediately referred to the “boss” as “extremely overrated”, “unsalented” and “dried plum by a rocker” and threatened that he should come home first, then you would see “how it goes on for him.” Quite possible. So far, Trump has not yet responded to the latest appearance of Springsteen.
But it is more important anyway whether the America, “that I love so”, hears jumping steen. America that believes “in democracy and the best of our American experiment”. America, which is committed to freedom and fights authoritarianism, how Springsteen it imagines.
Precise analysis far from home
However, this must be doubted. As almost the entire cultural prominence of the United States in November last year, Springsteen may have given an unconditional recommendation for Kamala Harris and warned of Trump mostly, without success.

So eloquent, precisely analyzing, explicitly and persistent and especially in front of huge auditors, the boss is now doing this far from its homeland. With immediate Trumpscher response after the Manchester appearance, but otherwise without a larger echo in the USA. The applause here is certain everywhere.
How this would behave in the States is on another sheet. Because one can assume that there are quite a few Springsteen fans who voted for Trump and are not so enthusiastic about the anti-trump tirades of their hero (in Germany the same applies to the audience of Herbert Grönemeyer or Udo Lindenberg, which may not be closed behind his favorite musicians if they position themselves against right-wing activities).
After all, it was not least Springste’s Republican and Right -wing national fans who made “Born in the USA” their hymn, contrary to the intentions of the song and the jumping rooms, and that are now running away.
Is Springsteen still rooted in US workers?
It does not play a role in such a big role as to whether Bruce Springsteen has not been part of the left-liberal (cultural) establishment for a long time. Or he is still deeply rooted in the US work, where he has always been located, and he has his fan base in the car, steel or other industry, with the Blue and White collar. It is always a survival -sized pop cultural figure.
Because the hope is that now in the “Land of Hope & Dreams” (as Springsten’s European tour is called) will finally be a major democratic survey against Trump and the US government. And that this uprising does not only obtain its dynamics from culture, but also from the ranks of the Democratic Party and many others. And maybe Springsteen really believes to do this from Europe, almost from exile, in which Donald Trump would probably like to see him.
At the moment even a Kim Kardashian, who had nothing against a meeting with Trump during his first term, is now officially departed by the US President. In addition, she expressed her horror about the development in Los Angeles and the measures by the US migration authority “Immigration and Costums Enforcement” (ICE): “If we are told that ICE is there to protect our country and remove violent offenders-great,” said Kardashian in an interview. “But when we see how innocent, hard -working people are torn from their families in an inhuman way, we have to raise our voice.”
Springsteen, Kim Kardashian, Neil Young (“This guy has lost control,” said Young about Trump), the hip-hop artist Doechii and some more cultural workers raise this voice. But this time it bears more political fruits than in the months before the US election and the victory of Trump? Unfortunately, learning from pop culture no longer means learning victories. The sovereignty of pop, if he ever had it, has been lost. The “promised land”, sings of the Springsteen, seems to be a long way off.
