Music: end of year concert with Mehta at the Maggio Theater in Florence

(ANSA) – FLORENCE, 29 DEC – The Florentine Musical Maggio Theater greets 2021 with a symphonic appointment directed by Zubin Mehta to conclude the year with two symphonies by Ludwig van Beethoven. The concert is scheduled for December 31st at 6pm in the great hall.

Alongside Mehta there will be a cast consisting of soprano Mandy Fredrich, mezzo-soprano Marie-Claude Chappuis, tenor AJ Glueckert and bass Franz-Josef Selig. On the program the Symphony n.8 in F major op.93 and the Symphony n.9 in D minor op.125 for solos, choir and orchestra.

The concert, recalls the Theater in a note, closes a complex 2021, but full of satisfactions in which the opera and symphonic production has practically never stopped: all the appointments foreseen in the 2021 bill have been made, even if at the beginning in closed doors and broadcast on digital platforms. From 26 April 2021, May was the first Symphonic Opera Foundation to open to the public when Daniele Gatti, appointed principal conductor, inaugurated the 83rd edition of the Festival with the symphonic concert dedicated to Igor Stravinskij. The next day, on the 27th, the first opera with the public (500 people allowed capacity) Adriana Lecouvreur by Francesco Cilea with Daniel Harding on the podium. Also worth mentioning are the tours that have seen the orchestra and choir of the Maggio in Salzburg, Budapest, Athens, Hamburg, Linz, Vienna, up to Dubai for the Expo. The theater, it should be remembered, also offered concerts in Massa, Arezzo, Grosseto and the events of the Maggio Metropolitano. Finally, the opening of the new ‘Zubin Mehta’ Auditorium in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, exactly ten years after the inauguration of the new Theater. (HANDLE).
