Volleyball, Mazzanti:

(ANSA) – ANCONA, MAY 17 – “Joining the ‘Career alias’ project, to promote the gender transition of students who feel the need, is a question of civilization”: to say this, on the International Day against Homophobia is Francesco Maria Orsolini, head teacher of the “Edgardo Mannucci” artistic high school in Ancona, Jesi and Fabriano who this year has introduced the “register” of elective names, that is, those with which the children want to be identified by see their gender identity recognized, which does not correspond to that indicated in the registry. “Some students and their respective families asked us for it – says the manager -. Last October, after having discussed with other colleagues who had already adopted it, the teaching staff and the school council resolved to ‘unanimity that our high school should go in this direction “. “After eight months – adds Orsolini – we can say that the project has already had positive feedback. In one case we had direct feedback from a student who, after starting the path that led to the change of name in the classroom, tells together to his parents for having found a new serenity “. The elective name that the student chooses is used only for internal communications to the institute, all administrative documents, including the diploma, continue to report the details registered in the registry. “I believe that promoting the well-being of students is a duty of every school” adds Orsolini. The most intimate problems of these students do not vanish with the change of name in the classroom, but “the school can help the process of change, fostering interpersonal relationships based on fairness and mutual respect for the freedom and inviolability of the person”.

“Neither case of discrimination or bullying was recorded in the three institutes, the girls and boys showed great maturity”, concludes Orsolini. (HANDLE).
