(ANSA) – ASIAGO (VICENZA), MAY 23 – Despite suffering a heart attack, a pilot of a biplane managed to complete the landing maneuver before dying, thus saving the passenger he had on board. It happened today at the Romeo Sartori airport in Asiago (Vicenza).

The pilot of a historic biplane from the 1930s Tiger Moth, with a passenger on board, despite feeling ill, managed to land regularly on the runway and then collapsed on the controls, causing the plane to end up on the grass.

Immediate intervention by the airport staff and the firefighters, who extracted the pilot from the aircraft cell, starting the first cardiopulmonary resuscitation operation also with the use of the defibrillator, until the arrival of the SUEM personnel.
