(ANSA) – PALERMO, June 12 – Violent night at the Capo market in Palermo. A policeman off duty ended up in the hospital kicked and punched by a group of teenagers who wanted to beat some boys including a disabled one. It all started when two kids insulted and harassed two couples and a disabled person who was sitting in a wheelchair in a pizzeria. Once the very young people were sent away, they returned to the place together with a dozen boys between 15 and 20 years old with broken clubs and bottles. A 37-year-old plainclothes policeman tried to make them desist but was attacked, despite the fact that he fired two shots in the air for intimidation. The policeman, before shooting, had qualified in order to dissuade them, but all was useless. It happened near the bar “la Casbak” of Candelai descent. In addition to the agent, the owner of the bar was also attacked with kicks, punches and blows with a club. Then the escape.
The policeman had time to call 112 and a patrol intervened. The owner of the bar was discharged with a 15-day prognosis while the policeman is still in the hospital for tests. Apparently the boys involved in the attack would not be new to these episodes of violence. The investigations are conducted by the carabinieri who are trying to trace the perpetrators of the beating.
