(ANSA) – TURIN, 18 JUN – The Alps as “the cradle of virtuous experiences capable of focusing on environmental sustainability”.

This is the message that arrives today from Legambiente on the occasion of the sixth national summit, in Chiaverano (Turin), where the assignment of the Green Flags for 2022 is celebrated.

This year 19 awards went to localities in the Alps: “an award – it is explained – to realities, communities, businesses and start-ups, local administrations, but also individual citizens who work to enhance the mountain territory while respecting the ‘environment”. We talk about environmental sustainability, landscape protection and enhancement, agriculture and the agri-food chain, innovation and smart services, local communities that network.

Piedmont and Friuli Venezia Giulia lead the ranking with four banners each: Lombardy and Trentino follow with 3, Veneto 2, Liguria and Alto Adige with 1; to complete the picture there is Appia – Italian Shepherd Network, awarded for the launch of the experimental training and accompaniment course for young shepherds of the National School of Pastoralism, with the aim of developing skills in terms of sustainable agricultural practices and for the pasture management.
