(ANSA) – VIGEVANO, 01 JUL – On the run with his 5-year-old son, after beating up and robbing the cohabitant and mother of the child, he reached the port of Genoa, where he was trying to embark to reach his country of origin. The man, 32, resident in Vigevano (Pavia), was tracked down and arrested by a crew of the flying squad of the Ligurian capital after the agents of the Vigevano police station chased him all night. He was arrested on charges of robbery, family mistreatment, personal injury and kidnapping.

The story began on Wednesday evening in Vigevano. The man, back home drunk, convinced his 40-year-old wife and 5-year-old son to get in the car with him, announcing that he would take them out for dinner. Instead he made a high-speed raid through the streets of the city, stopping only in a bar to get cans of beer. Then they went home. The woman scolded him for putting them in danger and he reacted by grabbing her by the neck, and kicking her. Then he took possession of the partner’s bag with his cell phone and wallet, locked it inside the house and drove away taking the child with him. The woman managed to attract the attention of a neighbor and sound the alarm. Thus began the police searches, which contacted the man’s acquaintances and alerted his Ligurian colleagues, the Ventimiglia border police and the Ligurian motorway operations center in the hypothesis – which later proved to be correct – that he intended to leave Italy. Tracing the movements of cell phones, the fugitive was located in the port area of Genoa at dawn. A steering wheel rushed to the spot, found the car but not the man and the child, who were actually in a nearby bar.

The little one has already returned to his mother in Vigevano. (HANDLE).
