(ANSA) – VATICAN CITY, 07 JUL – The attacks against Christian churches in Nigeria do not stop. If two priests have been released, news of a new kidnapping arrives: Father Pietro Amodu, a priest of the Catholic diocese of Otukpo was kidnapped along the road between Otukpo and Ugbokolo, in the state of Benue. He was going to celebrate Mass in a village. This was reported by the pontifical foundation Aid to the Church in Need, which supports persecuted Christians in the world.
The two priests kidnapped on Sunday, Father Peter Udo and Father Philemon Oboh, priests of the diocese of Uromi, were therefore released. ACS “continues to invoke state authorities to guarantee security to Christian communities”.
The violence instead affected an Anabaptist Christian church in Mubi, Adamawa State, also in Nigeria: armed men attacked the residence of a pastor, the Reverend Daniel Umaru, killed two of his sons and kidnapped his 13-year-old daughter. The wounded religious is in serious condition in hospital.
