(ANSA) – CATANZARO, JUL 14 – US material, for dual use drones, perhaps directed to Russia, has been blocked by the financial police and the customs agency in the port of Gioia Tauro. The material was seized by the Public Prosecutor of Palmi competent to operate in the territory of Gioia Tauro. The containers, coming from Canada, are currently stopped in a supervised area and will only be opened in the next few days.
The investigation is strictly confidential, but from what has been leaked, the investigators’ attention would now be focused on the documentation accompanying the containers, first to establish the real destination – the official half of the journey is Qatar – and then to establish whether the material, defined on the telecommunications documents themselves, corresponds to the papers and, possibly, whether it can be reconverted for military use.
