They hid the drugs to be sold in a cavity obtained inside a votive shrine dedicated to the Madonna, in the city center of Zungri, in the Vibonese area. With this accusation, three young people, two brothers and a cousin of theirs, were arrested by the carabinieri of the Zungri Station and of the Tropea Company, held responsible for a drugstore tour that from the small town had expanded to neighboring centers up to some coastal locations. that the presence of tourists made it particularly profitable.
It all started with the occasional check-up of a young user who was found in possession of a modest amount of marijuana. The carabinieri, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Vibo Valentia led by Camillo Falvo, began a feedback activity, managing to reconstruct the outlines of the story and challenging the suspects about fifty episodes of drug dealing committed between January and June 2020. The investigations also revealed the singular ways used to hide the narcotic. From here the drug was taken in small doses to be given to the users who commissioned their purchases through social platforms. Payments were then paid directly to the young people right near the votive altar.
The investigations would also have made it possible to ascertain the alleged involvement of the suspects in the theft of at least three cars, some horses, agricultural equipment as well as a theft committed inside a house in Zungri.
One of the 3 suspects was placed under house arrest, while the other two, cousins, were taken to prison. The latter are already known to the police because they are accused of being the authors of a brutal beating against a young girl which took place on September 26 last year in a petrol station in Filandari.
