(ANSA) – SPIGNO MONFERRATO, 04 AUG – A fire that broke out in the late afternoon yesterday in a wooded area of Rocchetta di Spiegno Monferrato (Alessandria), in the Acquese, on the border with the Piedmontese provinces of Asti and Cuneo and the Ligurian provinces of Savona, has engaged the firefighters in the night.
In the morning the situation is now defined under control, despite the intense outbreak which resumed around 4 and then extinguished by the reinforcement teams with the tanker from Alessandria and the volunteers from Canelli (Asti), in aid of that of the detachment of Acqui Terme already on site.
Expected, in the morning, the arrival of the Director of extinguishing operations from Cuneo, already alerted, to coordinate the interventions of canadair and helicopter to continue the reclamation.
Following the speeches, from last night, the mayor Antonio Visconti. “The Provincial is open – he says -. Vineyards, bed & breakfast and farm in the area are safe”, considering that the fire was ‘cut’ at the level of the road above them. Aib (forest fire) personnel from Spigno, Merana, Bistagno and Vesime (Asti) are also on site. (HANDLE).
