The politician said this in a written interview to the Mtavari Atkhi TV channel.

“Today the Georgian society does not see me visually and does not hear my voice in live. And if I cannot help the country with my life, maybe my death will illuminate its path. I say this without any pathos.”– Saakashvili answered the question of why he went on a hunger strike and whether he thought that it could end badly.

Saakashvili writes that this was not his first attempt to come to Georgia.
