(ANSA) – TARANTO, 05 AUG – The disembarkation of 659 migrants from the Geobarents ship of the NGO Doctors Without Borders is underway in Taranto, including about 150 minors, 2 pregnant women and some newborns rescued in recent days in various rescue operations in the Mediterranean. The welcome machine with first assistance and medical care is coordinated by the prefecture with the help of 118, Red Cross, Municipality and Civil Protection. The migrants are then temporarily transferred to the hotspot to be subsequently sorted to other destinations.
At the moment, no critical issues are reported, even if several refugees have appeared to be particularly tried. Taranto was indicated by the Interior Ministry as a safe harbor. On 30 July, 438 migrants disembarked from the Sea Watch ship. (HANDLE).
