Sweet, or as it is also called bell pepper, is an excellent vegetable that is suitable for both fresh salads and hot dishes and for preservation. Therefore, summer residents always try to harvest a large crop from a plant. In order to ensure great fertility of pepper, in addition to proper care, it needs proper and timely feeding.
GLOBAL HAPPENINGS asked how good it is to fertilize sweet peppers in June. This month, the plant forms an ovary and begins to ripen, therefore it really needs food in order to have a resource for the full development of future fruits.
Experienced gardeners know that pepper grows better in neutral soils enriched with organic fertilizers. They, among other things, make the earth more permeable to air and water, which is very important for this plant. But mineral fertilizers are also indispensable here. Peppers need to be fed with minerals from 2 to 4 times a season, depending on the condition of the soil and the bushes themselves.
The key is top dressing at the very moment when the pepper has faded and began to tie. To prepare the appropriate fertilizer, you need to take:
- ammonium nitrate – 10 grams;
- superphosphate – 25 grams;
- potassium sulfate – 25 grams;
- water – 10 liters.
All components are added to water and thoroughly mixed. The resulting liquid is best applied by the root method, because such a concentration of minerals can leave burns on the leaves. Pepper bushes are poured with the agent, and then clean water is brought in from above so that the fertilizer penetrates deeper into the ground.
The next top dressing can be carried out in two weeks. But it is important to consider the condition of the plant. If the pepper looks good and develops well, you should not add more fertilizer – this can seriously damage it.
When the pepper begins to bear fruit, it will be good to feed it with a fertilizer based on wood ash. To prepare it, you need to take:
- dry wood ash – 2 cups;
- ammonium nitrate – 10 grams;
- water – 10 liters.
All ingredients are thoroughly mixed and the plant is poured with the resulting product. In this case, the pepper will receive enough food for its fruits so that they grow fleshy and juicy.
