(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 11 DEC – In the early hours of today, around 6.40 am, a policeman died on the A23 after being hit by a car while he was doing surveys following a road accident. The man, the 58-year-old assistant chief Maurizio Tuscano, on duty at the Amaro Motorway Subsection, lost his life on the motorway section between Udine north and Gemona.
The accident occurred at km 34.4 of the, heading north.
Investigations are underway to reconstruct the dynamics. Tuscano was born in the province of Udine and leaves behind a wife and a child.
On the spot – informs Autostrade per l’Italia – medical and mechanical rescue services, traffic police patrols and the staff of the 9 / o Tronco di Udine of Autostrade per l’Italia intervened. Shortly after 10 the traffic passed on one lane and not and there were disturbances to the traffic.
The Minister of the Interior, Luciana Lamorgese, expressed “moved and heartfelt closeness to the family of the assistant Chief Coordinator Maurizio Tuscano”. The owner of the Interior Ministry is “close to the State Police and renews its thanks to the women and men of all the police forces for the extraordinary commitment and professionalism put in place on a daily basis to protect the safety of the entire community”. Police Chief Lamberto Giannini expresses “his condolences for the painful loss that grieves all the policemen who work daily for the safety of citizens”. (HANDLE).
