Russia and the occupation administration of Crimea are doing everything possible to get more Russians to move to the peninsula. This was announced by the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov, Crimea.Realii writes.

“For what they entered Crimea, this is what they are doing – a bridgehead in order to have full influence in this region. There is a complete rearmament there. Exercises are constantly taking place there today. Moreover, according to our intelligence, they have already brought them there. more than 600 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation have settled on the territory of Crimea, “he said.

Ukrainian human rights activists believe that the real numbers of displaced Russians are higher than those given by Russian statistics. The number of inhabitants of the peninsula in Russian statistics will become known in January, when the results of the all-Russian census are announced.

According to the head of the Crimean human rights group Olga Skripnik, Russia’s strategic task is to change the composition of the population.

“For the most part, what we can record, one of the directions is the movement of the militarized population. They are no longer moving as on business trips, but for permanent work, that is, they are moving with their families. That is, if we are talking about one FSB -shnik, then, in fact, we can multiply by 3. Because, for example, he arrives with his wife and child. And this is three times more than the militarized population, which is sent to the occupied Crimea. And it is clear that it is not just completely loyal, it controlled by the Kremlin, “she said.

The head of the Prosecutor’s Office of the ARC, Igor Ponochovny, adheres to the same opinion. He noted that the Russian Federation is doing everything possible to get more Russians to move to Crimea.

“The state and the occupation administration are doing everything possible to get more Russians to move to Crimea. This is indeed one of the most serious violations of international humanitarian law,” Ponochovny said.

Occupation of Crimea by Russia

In February 2014, armed people in unmarked uniforms appeared in Crimea and seized the building of the Supreme Council of Crimea, the Simferopol airport, the Kerch ferry crossing, and other strategic facilities, and also blocked the actions of the Ukrainian troops.

During a press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the occupation of Ukrainian Crimea in 2014. According to him, the Russian Federation could not do otherwise, they were allegedly forced to occupy the peninsula.

In addition, Putin, in a speech before an expanded collegium of the Ministry of Defense, accused Western countries of the current “tense situation in Europe” and threatened NATO over missiles in Ukraine.
