Captured fugitive, he was at the funeral of his partner’s aunt

(ANSA) – PORTICI, 22 JAN – What betrayed him was the participation in the funeral of his companion’s aunt: a fugitive since last July, Vincenzo Verriotto, 39, was arrested by the carabinieri in Portici (Naples). The man had become the protagonist last March 29 of a chase in the streets of Herculaneum after stealing a van trying to escape from the sight of the Carabinieri. Abandoned the vehicle with which he had damaged a public lighting pole, he climbed over the fence of a private land ending up in a ditch and there he was arrested.

Judged with a rite by direct line, he ended up under house arrest but since 26 July he had no trace of him. At that point the searches began: the Carabinieri of the Tenenza di Ercolano did not miss the presence of a funeral poster in recent days announcing the funeral in Portici of his partner’s aunt. And so, during the funeral, in monitoring the area, the Carabinieri of Herculaneum identified him among the crowd of relatives and friends. The man was arrested and, on the orders of the Naples Public Prosecutor’s Office, taken to the Poggioreale prison. (HANDLE).
