Gender equality and the ‘feminine’ could enter the official language of the Senate. Thanks to an amendment to the new regulation, still being examined by the Giunta for the regulation of Palazzo Madama and which will come into force from the next legislature in line with the cut in the number of parliamentarians. The amendment was proposed by the senator of the M5s, Alessandra Maiorino and was ‘passed’ with the favorable opinion of the speakers. The goal is to actually adapt language to the times by adding in all institutional communications – including the text of the regulation – the names of roles and functions declined in the female form, for example “senator” as well as senator, “the president” or “the minister”. So stop at the single genre. To become effective, the novelty must have the approval of the Chamber. At the moment, about forty amendments out of the 90 presented in total remain to be examined on the table of the Giunta.
