Repeal of the pension reform: will article 40 be ratified?

The Liot group’s bill will be examined Thursday in the National Assembly. The text, wishing the repeal of the pension reform, will it reach the vote? To prevent this scenario, the government is counting on the president of the hemicycle, Yaël Braun-Pivet, who could use article 40.

Will the Liot group’s bill go to the vote? This is the question that haunts the presidential majority, which especially does not want to vote on this text on Thursday. For the moment, to prevent this debate from taking place, the government is betting everything on the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet.

Article 1 “unconstitutional”

Will the President of the National Assembly use Article 40 against the Liot group’s proposal or not? Last Thursday on Europe 1, she left little doubt about her position. “Section 1 of the pension reform repeal is unconstitutional in that it is a charge. Now I will look at the amendment formally when it is tabled if it is tabled. But effectively I , I am very consistent in my words and in my actions,” she said.

The Blocked Vote Strategy

The point is clear. But since then, the situation may have changed. A member of the majority affirms it, the government finally prefers to use the blocked vote rather than article 40.

This is not the only strategy imagined by the majority. In recent days, Macronist MPs have tabled dozens of filibuster amendments by simply changing a word or two each time. The government and the majority are doing everything to ensure that this vote never takes place.
