(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 01 – Lorenzo Sonego immediately leaves the stage at the Madrid Open, the fourth Masters 1000 of the season, which is being held on the clay court of the “Caja Magica” of the Spanish capital. The Turinese, n.27 in the ranking, lost 6-4 6-3 to the British Jack Draper, n.124 ATP, on the draw thanks to a wild card. There are three other blues at the start in the main draw.
Jannik Sinner, n.12 of the ranking and 10 of the seeding, was drawn in the first round against the American Tommy Paul, n.34 ATP. Fabio Fognini, n.50 in the ranking, will face the Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili, n.20 ATP. They were joined by Lorenzo Musetti, promoted by the qualifiers. The 20-year-old from Carrara after winning two sets over Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka, beat Spaniard Alejandro Moro Canas, n.440 ATP and competing with a wild card in a comeback 5-7 7-5 6-2.
