Jacobs at the Golden Gala, challenge with Kerley and Bromell

Among Jacobs’ opponents there will in fact be the Americans Fred Kerley and Trayvon Bromell, two of the best sprinters in circulation, respectively the Olympic silver of 100 and the world leader last season (9.76). Kerley has already reaffirmed his class by running 19.80 the 200 meters at Walnut on April 16. He is the “Diamond League champion” of 2021, the current leader of the world ranking and boasts a personal of 9.84 over the distance, achieved in the final in Tokyo in the head-to-head with Jacobs. The 26-year-old Kerley has already raced and won in the past at the Golden Gala, in 2018, but in the 400 meters, a specialty in which the following year he won the world bronze in Doha.

The only presence in Rome of Bromell dates back to 2016, seventh in the 200, a few months after having triumphed in the 60 at the Indoor World Championships in Portland. The sprinter, 26, who was also world bronze in Beijing 2015 in the 100 meters, finished last year at the top of the world lists with the 9.76 in Nairobi, a high-altitude track (1,865 meters) where Jacobs will make his seasonal debut on Saturday. on 100 meters.
